Welcome to a new chapter of Blaming Innocence. In this chapter, Gemma is interviewed at the police station. But why? Is it something to do with Raymond Pierce? Read on to find out...

After breakfast (which no one had commented on), it was suggested that we went to the gym as there was no gym in the school. When me and Chester were getting changed (not together, obviously, but just getting changed), Raymond, Rosy and Cinnamon were chatting to eachother. Probably about me.
As I stepped onto the running machine, I felt absolutely embarrassed with my outfit - I'd just grabbed some random stuff to put on, and here I was no in a sleeveless top and hot pink shorts! I heard footsteps coming closer, and I guessed it would be Rosy and Cinnamon.
I was right. They giggled to eachother and Rosy said,
"Ooh, it's the little sucking up to people baby!"
"Yeah, her bum's going all jumpy!"
They laughed harder, harsh giggles which scorched my ears. Angry, I stepped off the running machine, walked briskly past them (putting up my middle finger as I went) and into the showers where I could cool off, get changed back and trudge back to the school. I'd make up an excuse that I wasn't feeling very well.
After changing into my normal clothes, I went into the shower room and turned on the water - pretending to shower. That way, not even Rosy and Cinnamon would be able to insult me. After several minutes, I decided to go back to the school.
Walking back over the wooden floor, I was met with a terrifying sight. No one was around, and Raymond lay on the floor in his own blood, passed out. His hand was covering a large wound from which blood was seeping. I tried to recall as much first aid as possible, but it was only after a few attempts and feeling as if I was about to pass out myself that I detected a heartbeat. I sighed in relief, and called the ambulance.
"Hello?" I said into the phone.
"Good morning, Neverglade Ambulance, what is your emergency?" The women at the other said.
"I've got a friend passed out on the ground with a severe body injury. He's in the... the Physical Exercise Gym and he's not responding to anything. I've detected a heartbeat but there's nothing else and I'm pretty worried," I explained in a rush.
"So that's the Physical Exercise Gym, yes? We'll send a police officer and an ambulance over straight away." I was told, and then the line went dead.
Several minutes later, a police officer walked in. She took one glance at Raymond, then placed herself next to me.
"What's your name?" the officer said.
"Gemima White, officer," I replied meekly.
"What can you tell me about the incident, Gemima?" she continued me.
"I... I went into the shower and when I came out everyone had gone and Raymond was on the floor," I said.
"That's everything?" the officer said.
"Yeah," I muttered.
"Could you tell me as much information about the casualty as you can?"
"His name's Raymond Pierce and he goes to Prince's High School. He's... also got a brother," I replied.
"Anything more?" she said.
"Nothing that's coming to mind now, officer," I replied truthfully.
"Well... the ambulance will be here in a few minutes. That wound looks pretty bad, and so we'll have to wait until the ambulance comes, but you're our prime suspect if it was murder, and I'll have to take you to the office for a hearing. I'm Officer Kate Baker, by the way," she said, rubbing her neck.
I wasn't exactly sure how to react, but I was annoyed and sad at the same time.
Not long after the ambulance had gone, Officer Kate and I were standing infront of the intimidating police building.
"Well, well, what have we got here, Kate?" the women at the desk infront of us said, clucking her tongue in disapproval.
"Nothing of importance to you, Rona," Officer Kate snapped back. "Come on then, Gemima, let's get you questioned and then you can go home."
Moments later, I was seated on a very uncomfortable chair and Officer Kate sat behind an old-fashioned computer.
"Now, Gemima, I'm going to ask you a few simple questions and I want you to answer me truthfully. If you do lie, and we find out about it, you risk being heavily fined and put in jail," she said, and turned on her computer.
And so she asked, and I answered, and she typed and nodded and then asked, and I answered and so we continued for probably one or two hours.
"That's all then, Gemima. You'll have some more information about Raymond and what's going to be done about you tomorrow, but I don't have enough evidence against you to keep you locked up here, so you can go home," Officer Kate said matter-of-factly, then yawned and shut off her computer.
"Thanks officer," I muttered and got off of my seat.
I walked out of the hearing office, outside where the sun was nearly setting.
I got into the taxi that had been waiting for me and stared moodily out the window as the driver drove me home.
A few minutes after coming back, everyone was called into the living room where Mrs. Days sat, looking much nicer with her hair done up and wearing a creamy dress.
"I have some very sad news for you all," she started.
"Today, after everyone except for Raymond and Gemima left the gym, Raymond suffered a terrible accident. Luckily Gemima had her mobile with her and was able to phone the ambulance in time. Raymond went off to the hospital, but he didn't make it out alive. He... he was suffering from Inner Stomach Poisoning - someone had put poison in his food which had gone to his stomach. From there, it ate away his inner stomach until it ate away his skin. Raymond has passed away which is a terrible thing to happen, especially here at Prince's High School. His parents are informed, and Chester, you are excused to go to your parents house first thing tomorrow morning. However, the police decided that this wasn't an accident, this was murder, and their main suspect is," here Mrs. Days stopped, and took a deep breath.
"Gemima White."
____
"I was suspected of murder." I finished, sighing.
"But that wasn't everything, was it?" Inspector Shaw said knowingly.
"No, that wasn't everything." And so I went on...
